Hope in Hopeless Circumstances

Pastor Lynn Yantz: Reach Out with the love of Christ!

Pastor Bob Cattane kindly allowed me to share this message at Flint New Life Church of the Nazarene. May you have hope today as you trust in Jesus Christ!
“Hope in Hopeless circumstances”
In the Old Testament, Genesis 1:1, God instructs Abram to leave his country and go where He will show him. Genesis 12:2, the Lord speaks to Abram, “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you,..”  Abram left as God had told him to.  He obeyed in faith – not because of what he could see.  At the time God speaks, Abram was married to Sarai and they are childless.  Abram is 75 years old and she is 65 years old.

Some time goes by and in Genesis 15:3 Abram said, “You have given me no children…”  Abram has not seen God’s promise realized.  Most of us would likely start to doubt.  God reassures…

Return to the Lord

Pastor Lynn Yantz: Reach Out with the love of Christ!

Hello!  I had the privilege of sharing this story about Joel with the congregation of Flint New Life Church of the Nazarene.  The mission of the church is: to introduce individuals to Christ, to equip them to be followers of Christ;  and to impact our community with God’s love.

Joel is a prophet in the OT.  Joel has a message from God to the people.  The message is : if the nation will repent and return to the Lord, God will restore His relationship with her and bless her.  The nation referred to is Judah.  This message is relevant to us today.

Joel 1:15
Alas for that day! For the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.  The day of the Lord – A day of greater trouble than yet they felt, troubles which God will heap upon them.

Joel 2:12-13
“Even now,” declares…

This Lenten 2021 Fasting List Might Surprise You

Lent starts tomorrow. Great ideas from Pastor Rob Prince! He is straightforward and that’s how I like things 🙂 Hope it gives you food for thought.

Rob Prince's Blog

Usually in the season of Lent, Christians’ fast. We give up things like chocolate, Facebook or coffee. Little did we know mid-way through Lent 2020, we’d give up things far more important than sweets or soda. We stopped meeting together. Stopped seeing each other. Stopped so many things at the beginning days of the pandemic. We sat home on Easter Sunday. Thanks for nothing Covid-19! None of those things we stopped doing were on our fasting list on Ash Wednesday 2020. As we embark in a new season of Lent, maybe in our pandemic-fatigued minds we are thinking, “Lent 2021– Let me count the things I’d gladly give up.”

Let’s give up: masks, social distancing, Zoom meetings, on-line learning, hybrid school schedules, and all other things “Covid” for Lent 2021.

Not so fast (pun intended).

Obviously, we aren’t out of the Covid woods. We still have a few hurdles to…

What can we do?

Pastor Lynn Yantz: Reach Out with the love of Christ!

Welcome friend!  I am here to share my journey as I learn to love, share and care for others.  Jesus has changed me and continues to change me.  During the most difficult time in my life. I found hope for the future in Jesus.  My mission is to share that hope and love to others in this hurting world.

I would like to hear about your ideas and experiences.  My question is:  What can we do to care for the hungry, broken and hopeless all around us?
